Ruben Emanuel NECHIFOR, Ph.D.

Dr. Ruben Emanuel NECHIFOR is currently a Researcher at the International Institute for Advanced Studies of Psychotherapy and Applied Mental Health of Babeș-Bolyai University, after working as a Postdoctoral Fellow at (1) the Radiological Sciences Department from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in the USA (https://ucla.academia.edu/RubenEmanuelNechifor) and (2) the MRI Research Center from University of New Brunswick (UNB) in Canada (https://mri.ext.unb.ca/Peronnel/photo_archive.php).
He obtained the Ph.D. in Materials Engineering in 2011 at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, studying – through Nuclear Magnetic Resonance NMR – molecular dynamics of various liquids confined in novel polymeric nanocapsules used in drug release (https://utclujnmr.weebly.com/group-members.html). Part of these doctoral studies were carried out at Technische Universität Ilmenau, Germany (https://www.tu-ilmenau.de/techphys2/mitarbeiter/).
His Master’s degree is in Complex Molecular Systems at the Faculty of Physics of Babeș-Bolyai University (with an Erasmus scholarship at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France). The Bachelor’s degree is in Medical Physics also at the Faculty of Physics of Babeș-Bolyai University .

Research Interests:

  • Various fMRI and Clinical MRI studies for different psychopathologies and clinical pathologies
  • Develop and implement new pulse sequences and new protocols for improving the existing/standard techniques and protocols of fMRI and Clinical MRI in order to obtain a better and earlier image signature of tissue microstructure.
  • Perfusion and Diffusion MRI studies on cancer tumours with specific mutation status and their correlation with tissue histopathology and with different associate psychological profiles.
  • Assess the differences between relapses and pseudo-relapses tumours on the brain in correlation with the tissues histopathology and the associate psychological profile using various MRI techniques.
  • Explore various prognostics related with progression-free survival and overall survival of various tumour types in comparison with their histopathology and the observed psychological profiles.
  • Various fMRI and Clinical MRI studies for appraising the psychological and clinical features, their correlation with tissues histopathology and various psychological profiles and for assessing the outcome responses to various/new psychotherapies and clinical therapies.

Prof. Univ. Dr. Anca DOBREAN

Anca Dobrean, Ph.D. is a Professor and Head of the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, Babeș-Bolyai University. She is certified and a clinical psychologist and cognitive behavioral psychotherapist and from 2012 she is the President of the Romanian Association of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Her research interests focus on the developing, investigating, and disseminating evidence-based assessment and interventions for child and adolescent mental health problems with a particular emphasis on child and adolescent internalizing problems, ADHD and parental contribution to child psychopathology. She is also interested in ways technology can be used to enhance mental health treatments for children, adolescent and parents. In the present she coordinates the DETECT Lab (Digital Enhanced Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies for Children, Adolescents and Parents).

Associate Professor Simona ŞTEFAN

Simona Ștefan, PhD is Associate Professor at the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Babeș-Bolyai University, and a member of the International Institute for the Advanced Studies of Psychotherapy and Applied Mental Health. She is a cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist, clinical psychologist and psychological counsellor.  Simona got her Ph.D. in 2012 at the Evidence-Based Assessment and Psychological Interventions Doctoral School at Babeș-Bolyai University (coordinator Professor Daniel David, Ph.D.). In 2018, Simona was a Fulbright scholar, conducting her research fellowship at Boston University, working with Professor Stefan Hofmann, Ph.D. Her research interests encompass anxiety disorders, investigating the efficiency of psychological interventions and their mechanisms of change, clinical cognitive sciences and interpersonal relations.

Assistant Professor Răzvan PREDATU, PhD

Răzvan Predatu is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, and a member of the International Institute for the Advanced Studies of Psychotherapy and Applied Mental Health. He is also a cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist certified by the Romanian Board of Psychologists. His research focuses on difficulties in emotion regulation and their role in psychopathology, specifically on the association between negative evaluations of one’s emotions and various psychological disorders (e.g., affective disorders, anxiety disorders, and sleep disorders). He is also interested in cognitive-behavioral interventions to optimize performance (cognitive-behavioral coaching) and technology-based interventions.

Assistant Professor Radu ȘOFLĂU

Radu Șoflău is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, Babeș-Bolyai University. He is also a clinical psychologist and cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist certified by the Romanian Board of Psychologists. His research interests focus on assessing the efficacy of psychological treatments for psychopathology, as well as understanding cognitive and non-cognitive factors associated with psychopathology and treatment response.

Professor Oana DAVID, PhD

Dr. Oana David is a full professor in the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy and director of the Babes-Bolyai-PsyTech Psychology Clinic for students. She is a clinical psychologist and cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist, accredited by the national board of Psychologists, Albert Ellis Institute, and the British Psychological Society. Dr. Oana David is head of the DATA Lab, and her research interests focus on the development of innovative technology-based psychological interventions (e.g., online, gamified, based on VR). Her professional expertise includes applications of psychological interventions in the educational field (mental health support for students and parents) and in organizations (e.g., performance, distress).

Assistant Professor Diana NECHITA, PhD

Diana Nechita is an assistant professor at the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, from Babes-Bolyai Cluj-Napoca University. She is a clinical psychologist and a cognitive-behavioral therapist certified by the Romanian Board of Psychologists and the Albert Ellis Institute of New York. Diana is also a supervisor in cognitive-behavioral psychotherapies.

Her research interests are evidence-based psychological interventions and self-conscious emotions and their relationship with psychopathology (mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders), focusing on their regulation.

Professor “Aaron T. Beck” Daniel DAVID, Ph.D.

Daniel David, Professor, Ph.D. of clinical cognitive (neuro)sciences, is the Rector of Babes-Bolyai University (since 2020), Director of Research and Diplomate/Supervisor at the Albert Ellis Institute (AEI), New York, USA and president/director of the International Institute for the Advanced Studies of Psychotherapy and Applied Mental Health. He is also a supervisor in the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies. After his graduate (Babeş-Bolyai University) and postgraduate (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai) studies, he received a professorship position at the Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania and an adjunct professorship position at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, USA. Costina-Ruxandra Poetar, Ph.D, is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Clinical Psychology
and Psychotherapy, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Babeş-Bolyai University from
Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She defended her PhD thesis (“Transdiagnostic interventions delivered
through technology”) in 2016 within the Evidence-Based Psychological Assessment and Interventions
Doctoral School.

Her main research interests are: evidence-based psychological interventions
addressed to children, adolescents and adults, family and couple psychology, mental health
interventions delivered through technology (Internet interventions, mobile phone applications, Virtual reality).
